Lake Level Alert
New Posting -
October 6, 2008: Annual drawdown of
Lake Tapps' water level to commence on or after Nov 1, 2008
The Lake Tapps Community Council has
advised that the reservoir’s annual wintertime drawdown will
commence on or after November 1, 2008.
Due to the low river levels and
current governmental fish flow requirements NO WATER is
currently being let into the lake. Under this condition the
lake will be dropping approximately 3 inches per week due to
evaporation and normal leakage. Monitor your areas closely
between now and the start of the drawdown. Shallow areas may be
affected earlier than November 1st.
The community council is urging
lakeside residents to remove their watercraft before the
drawdown starts to avoid watercraft from becoming stranded on
shallow, exposed inlets.
Puget
Sound Energy (PSE) will track the weather forecasts starting in
November and drawn down to 537’ [5 foot drop – similar to last
year] at that point in time PSE will take stock of whether the
diversion dam is still WHOLE (intact) and what other factors we
might then have to deal with. If all is properly in place PSE
will drop it another 2 feet to 535’ around mid Jan thru Feb for
maximum Milfoil freeze potential. (Milfoil is a nocuous weed in
the lake)
The
target refill date is April 15, 2009 in accordance with the
provisions of the community agreement.
For current information on Lake Tapps
water levels or to report boating, public-safety, or litter
problems at the reservoir, call the community council’s Lake
Tapps Community Information Line at 253-891-5460.

SEEDOO THEFTS
New Posting - October 7, 2008 ---
Within the past week or so there have been two seadoo
thefts on the north end of the lake. It appears the subjects are coming
in from the water and taking them at night. One of the seedoo's was
brought to Deer Island where it was loaded into a truck. Those two
subjects have been arrested. We don't know if more people are involved
with the thefts. If you could distribute this to make people are aware
so they can secure seadoo's and other small watercraft. Thank you,
Eric Jank

REAL ESTATE SIGN RULES
Prohibition of
Real Estate Signs at Entrance of Driftwood Point
|
 |
You’ve probably noticed that Real Estate signs have been
removed from our entrance. After many comments from community members
expressing dissatisfaction with the overall appearance of our entrance,
a majority of Trustees have voted to prohibit sign posting at our
entrance. However, signs are permitted in front of the property being
sold. The reasons for prohibiting signs at the entrance are:
1. Signs at the entrance create an unkempt appearance of
our community.
2. Spending member’s monies to improve the entrance,
while not addressing the unkempt appearance generated by the signs (that
would tend to de-value the improvement), would be a violation of our
fiduciary responsibilities as Trustees.
3. Real Estate signs can interfere with a driver’s view
of traffic and thus endanger them and other drivers by creating an
unsafe condition.
