Driftwood Point Association (DPA)
Monthly Board Meeting (November 13, 2006)

Call To Order:
The November DPA Community Board Meeting was held at Lake Tapps Elementary and was called to order by President Joe Muscarnera at 7:00 PM.

Attendance:
Attendees included President Joe Muscarnera, Vice President Toni Jilek, Secretary David Thorsen, Treasurer Kathleen Hickey, and Trustees Tim Wilson, Devin Graham and Jean Julum.

Community Members in attendance: Don and Ann Fisher, Chuck Romeo, Stan Baber, Liz Parmley, Pat Gimenez, Dave Gimenez, Allan Dobson, Scott and Kristy Thorsteinson.

Trustees excused: Ann Beurskens and Justin Carlo

 Approval of October 2006 Minutes:
The first order of business by the board was the reading of the October 2006 minutes.  There was a motion to approve, seconded, and approved.

Treasurer’s Report:
Kathleen Hickey reported:

a        Expenses are currently $17,095.87 under budget

b       The BECU account has accrued roughly $400 since we opened the account.

c        Finance Committee meeting needs more time to discuss matters further for next years budget outline and that a possible assessment may be warranted for major improvements, even though we are under budget this year.  

President’s Report
Joe Muscarnera briefly outlined the night’s agenda.  He reported the following:

A.   The trees at the water park not all down but are being worked on.

B.    Tim Wilson has agreed to participate in the Santa ride.

C.   Security and Safety matters we brought up and discussed.

Park Committee Report:
Jean Julum reported the following.

A.   Everything in the park has now been winterized.

B.    The ball park trees are being cleared, but progress has slowed due to severe weather.

Architecture Committee Report:
Joe advised that Linda and Allen Kesti’s Privacy fence request is approved, contingent to following DPA and county rules.

Communications Report
Don Fisher reported that there is advertising space available and articles are needed for the December newsletter.  Everything is needed by the 17th.

Entrance Refurbishment Committee report: N/A

5 Year Plan Committee Report:  N/A

Finance Committee Report: N/A

Lake Tapps Community Council Meeting:
Don Fisher filling in for Ron Wilderman reported that we are still going through the input process to the department of ecology.  2044 would be the effective date of possible lake issues.  Dike repairs will be done to eliminate possible back flooding.  Please refer to laketapsnews.org for more information.

Unfinished Business: n/a

New Business:

1.     Possible letter to Pierce County Watercrafts for possible buoys or logs near the launch to prevent damage to boats and docks was brought up.

2.     Devin (speaking for Anne) wanted to recognize community’s members for the “call to duty above and beyond”.  There was a motion to a make a “gift” to Mark Neabaur Neubauer and his family ($100 limit), 2nd and passed.  Discussion continued after in regards to continuing to recognize other members for their positive actions.

Open Discussion:

1.     A cabana on 179th was broken into and new pressure washer was stolen, which is in addition to another shed on 179th that was broken into and other equipment were stolen.

2.     There were 3 auto break-ins around 185th and Driftwood Drive last month.
