Monthly Board Meeting (November 12, 2007)

Call To Order:
The November 2007 DPA Community Board Meeting was held at Lake Tapps Elementary and was called to order by President Joe Muscarnera at 7:00 p.m.

Attendance:
Attendees included President Joe Muscarnera, Treasurer Kathleen Hickey, and Trustees Jean Julum, Liz Johnson, Scott Thorsteinson, and Justin Nimick.

Trustees excused: Vice President Toni Jilek, Secretary Dave Thorsen.

Members in attendance: Stan Baber, Liz Parmley, Debbie Suver

Approval of previous minutes:
The October 2007 Board Meeting minutes were read by Joe Muscarnera, seconded and approved.

Treasurer’s Report:
Kathleen Hickey reported

DELINQUENCIES:    $  $4467.70 ($1152.86 CAPTURED FROM LAST MONTH)

CASH:

BEGINNING BAL:     9/30/07      $  77,190.53

ENDING BAL:         10/31/07      $  75,936.10

INCOME:  $ 310.16 (INCLUDES LATE CHARGES, GATE CARD FEES, PARK USE FEES AND INTEREST INCOME OF $250.16)

EXPENSES:  $ 2998.03  IN ADDITION, GROUND EFFECTS LANDSCAPING ‘S INVOICE OF $2649.29 HAS ALSO BEEN PAID.   

WE ARE OVER BUDGET FOR PAYROLL AT PARK IN THE AMOUNT OF APPROXIMATELY $ 3383.   PAYROLL IS FINISHED FOR YEAR.

PARK EXPENSES AS A WHOLE ARE OVER BUDGET BY $ 2666.00

RESERVE FUND HAS A BALANCE OF $ 3974.76 FROM $11,730 BUDGETED FOR THE FISCAL YEAR.       

 ALL OTHER EXPENSES ARE WITHIN OR JUST WITHIN BUDGET..

 YEARLY AUDIT:   TO BE REVIEWED AND SIGNED BY BOARD MEMBERS.

President’s Report
Joe Muscarnera briefly outlined the agenda.  He reported the following:

1.     The owners of the rental where two pit bulls have been menacing members have served notice on their renter and he has agreed to vacant their rental on or before December 1, 2007.

2.     The Entrance lighting still needs additional quotes

3.     Joe will ask Toni Jilek if she will again chair the Driftwood Point Santa Ride.

4.     Bulletin Board movement still pending.

5.     The tree carving at the park is awaiting more bids.

Member of the month award
For the month of November, Jean Julum, for her excellent management of our park. She hires quality employees, supervises projects, such as the recent lighting improvement and manages all aspects of park operations. Jean is a valued member of the community and is much appreciated.

Finance Committee Report:
Kathleen announced that she would convene a meeting of the Finance committee in January 2008 to begin budget preparation for the annual membership meeting.

New Business:  none

Open Discussion:
Much discussion about security after the recent theft of a trailer. Suggestions included:

Forming small neighborhood block watch groups (next door and across the street, six homes)

Posting recent theft activity on the bulletin board

Encouraging members to utilize adequate lighting, inside and out.

Utilizing camera's - which is impractical and not likely to be effective.
