Monthly Board Meeting (July 9th, 2007)
Lake Tapps Elementary School

Call To Order:

The July 2007 DPA Community Board Meeting was held at Lake Tapps Elementary and was called to order by President Joe Muscarnera at 7:01 p.m.

Attendance:

Attendees included President Joe Muscarnera, Vice President Toni Jilek, Secretary David Thorsen, Treasurer Kathleen Hickey, and Trustees Jean Julum,  Scott Thorsteinson, Liz Johnson, and Justin Nimick.

Trustees excused: Justin Carlo

Members in attendance: Don Fisher, Ann Fisher, Stan Baber, Sandi Christensen, Liz Parmly, Kristy Thorstienson, and Mike Hickey.

Approval of previous minutes:

The June 2007 Board Meeting minutes were read, seconded and approved.

Treasurer’s Report:

Kathleen Hickey reported:

1.     The delinquency are at $14,934.43 as of 6/31/07

2.     Income stands at $1,1127.14 ( which reflects late charges, gate card fees, park use fees and interest income of $31.7.14 for the month)

3.      Entry expense is still outstanding at roughly $2500.00

4.     Money Market account sits at $97,882.01

5.     All expenses are within budget, with the exception of the $1,470.73 for park improvements.

6.      Yearly audit: Appears to have passed with good marks.  We are reviewing the audit draft this week for finalization.

President’s Report

Joe Muscarnera briefly outlined the agenda.  He reported the following:

1.      Off Duty Patrol is resuming with less leniency after one year of the inaugural program.  There will be 2 different individuals handling the duties for about 11 hours per individual per month.

2.      September will be the last reminder for dues and then a $300 legal fee will be incurred for those delinquent dues.

3.      One more load of sand was available at about $4/ton through Lisa Crouse.

Member of the month award

For the month of June:  Mike Hickey, the behind the scenes guy who helps out on almost every committee and every project.  Thanks again for all you help Mike.

5 New member packages were given out during the last month

Park Committee Report:  Jean Julum

Jean reported that we still need paint for the tennis courts.

The new slide was tested and passed and the pump prime works great

Entrance Refurbishment Committee report: Justin Nemick

We will be meeting with the installers in one week in regards to the installation of the new sign in about 10 days.

Architecture Committee Report:

Scott Cochran’s garage was approved.

Communications Report:

Park rules have been updated on the Web site.

Lake Tapps Community Council Meeting:

Don Fisher reported:

Dept of Ecology is going to look at the Puyallup request for 850 CFS and we will be fighting this legality if it occurs.

Fund raising notification is going out again this week; with 85k now and we’re looking for roughly a balance of 100K.

Open Discussion:

1.     Buoy marker questions should be called into the Pierce County Water Patrol Division.

2.     The old entrance sign will be placed at the park facing out, so individuals will be able to see from the water.
