TREASURER’S REPORT:
Treasurer Ron Wilderman presented a detailed to date income vs. expense
accounting ledger. In the 2005/2006-budget cycle we allocated $71,420 for
Driftwood Point expenditures. To date we have incurred $34,590.80 in
expenses. The majority of our community expenses are lights, insurance, park
maintenance/improvements, paying down the loan and professional services.
COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE REPORT:

FIVE YEAR
PLAN COMMITTEE REPORT:
A “Community Enhancement Plan” survey has
been developed in order to prioritize what is important to community members
over the next several years. Collection of this data continues.
SECURITY COMMITTEE
REPORT:
No report
PARK COMMITTEE REPORT:
The park continues to receive routine maintenance to include the painting of
our shed, bird/rodent prevention in and around the park restrooms and overall
ground maintenance. We are happy to report to community members that no costs
were incurred at the part for theft or vandalism during the month of July. The
Board members sincerely appreciate the efforts by all of our neighbors to keep a
clean and safe park for all to enjoy.
FINANCE COMMITTEE
REPORT:
Ron Wilderman and Joe Muscarnera developed a process for addressing delinquent
membership dues. After discussion it was recommended that those community
members who have failed to stay current with their membership dues would be sent
to a collection agency. The six community members being sent to collections
have not paid their dues for over 12 months and have a combined total of over
$7,000 in delinquent dues.
Those Board Members voting
“YES” to send to collections were Toni Jilek, Joe Muscarnera, Ron Wilderman, Bob
Lee, Jean Julum and Tim Wilson. Voting “NO” was Kim Small. Board members not
present to vote were Ann Beurskens and Devin Graham.
OLD
BUSINESS
2004 Income Tax:
Tax Accountant Jay Vandal completed last year’s taxes.
Boat Management:
Pierce County Council and Pierce County Sheriff’s Department was contacted and
confirmed the enforcement of the new rafting, noise and speed ordinance should
be taking place. Community members have seen an increase of law enforcement
activity.
Grandview
Ridge:
In June, under open discussion, it was
discussed that Grand View Ridge community members had expressed an interest in
joining Driftwood Point. Bob Lee volunteered to meet with several Grandview
Ridge residents and list both the Pros and Cons of adding 34 property owners to
our community. Due to vacations and other scheduling conflicts Bob was unable
to meet with community members.
NEW BUSINESS:
By-Laws Committee:
Community members Stan Baber, Karen Sargent
and Ann Beurskens had agreed in July to sit on the committee with Vice President
Joe. Joe advised they have yet to meet.
Park Rental Fees:
Currently the park rental fee is set at $50.00. It was suggested
that we do some research to determine if raising the fee would be in the best
interest of Driftwood Point community members. This research was referred back
to the Park Committee to provide us with a report on the pros and cons.
OPEN
DISCUSSION:
Tom and Susanne Buchanan of
Gun Club row attended the meeting and expressed an interest of joining the
Driftwood Point Homeowners Association. They were warmly welcomed to our
community and their annual dues will be pro-rated.
Trustee Kim Small expressed
concern over a community member-allowing non-members to utilize our Community
Boat Launch for the purpose of conducting sales/business and repairs of
watercraft. This issue had been addressed prior and it was the finding of
several Board members that business was not being conducted at the park.
However, the member will be reminded that he needs to be present at the park and
cannot allow his employees and non-members of our community to enter the park.
