Driftwood Point Annual Meeting
April 28, 2005

CALL TO ORDER:

The April Annual DPMC Community Meeting was held at Lake Tapps Elementary School and called to order by President Toni Jilek at 7:05 PM.

ATTENDANCE:

Attendees included President Toni Jilek, Treasurer Ron Wilderman, Devin Graham, Kim Small, Jean Julum, Ann Beurkens, Tim Wilson and Executive Secretary Lisa Graham

APPROVAL OF March 14, 2005 MINUTES

Deferred to the May 9, 2005 monthly meeting.

TREASURER’S REPORT:

Treasurer Ron Wilderman provided handouts and gave a presentation on the following financial topics:

1.                  Review of our financial status for 2004/2005

2.                  Review of our finance objectives for 2004/2005

3.                  Review of our proposed budget for 2005/2006

4.                  Identify members of our finance sub-committee

5.                  Review of our finance objectives for 2005/2006

Questions asked by community members at the end of the presentation:

Q.                Does the salary for our park attendant include more hours due to the lake level being up earlier?

A.                Yes

Q.                The park septic field was not originally designed to support a community of this size.  Designed in 1957, there were few houses and the intent was for recreational use only.  With the current repairs will it be sufficient to meet our needs?

A.                Yes, we will monitor and support the drain field with back up Honey Buckets to meet our needs.

Q.                What was done to the drain field?

A.        The drainfield was impacted by roots, which caused the failure.  The roots were cleared and 30 feet of 12-inch tile culvert was replaced with plastic sewage pipe.

OLD BUSINESS

1.      2005 Park Rules:

Board Member Ann Beurskens provided handouts to further advance discussion on allowing dogs in the park.  The handouts examined legal issues and sanitation issues. At the conclusion of the discussion it was recommended that Ann obtain the names of people interested in forming a sub-committee to further look at allowing dogs in the park. 

2.      Five Year Plan for Improvements to Driftwood Point: 

         Community member Liz Johnson explained the process in which we will begin gathering ideas from community members on what is important to them in terms of improving our community.  A questionnaire was developed and upon receiving feedback a sub-committee will be formed to prioritize suggested improvements in our community.  Some additional suggesting received at the meeting included the following:

1.                        Improve the front entrance

a.                   New sign

b.                  Landscaping

c.                   Lights

2.                        Club House at the park

3.                        Side walks

4.                        Sewers

5.                        Replace boat launch dock

6.                        Install speed bumps (Note-Pierce County will not allow public roads to have speed bumps)

7.                        Change Entrance – yield sign to stop sign.

8.                        Clean entrance – pay someone to pick up garbage

9.                        Security system at entrance

CONCLUSION OF MEETING:

Community members Dorothy Muoio, Kim Sergeant, Ron Wilderman and Lisa Graham counted the official ballots for the approval of the 2005/2006 DPMC Operating Budget..  The members counted 85 total votes with the following results; 74 Yes Votes, 10 No Votes and 1 Abstained.
