Driftwood Point 5 Year Community Enhancement Plan To: Driftwood Point Association (DPA) Community Members - December 2006 Twelve (12) suggestions have been received from our DPA community. (# 1) Beautification of the entrance to Driftwood Point - Trustee Justin Carlo volunteered to address this suggestion. The entrance has never looked better Justin! Justin and the Finance Committee are also addressing suggestion #6. (# 2) A community center at the park - This is currently under study by Finance Committee. (# 3) Hire a private security company for random patrols - This has been implemented using off-duty Pierce County deputies at a cost of $12,000 annually. (# 4) Contract with a landscape company for parks lawn maintenance and entrance cleanup - As in (# 5) below, this is addressed as a normal course of business. The park attendants are currently performing the entrance cleanup and lawn maintenance. (# 5) Replace boat launch dock - This is a maintenance issue and, when necessary, will be addressed by the Board. (# 6) Change the sign at the entrance to Driftwood Point - The Trustees have authorized replacing the sign at the front with a stone to be engraved on both sides and illuminated. Replacing the Y at the entrance is not feasible. (# 7) Security gate at entrance - A manned gate would be prohibitively expensive and not furnish security within the point. The Trustees initiated (# 3) above. (# 8) Install speed bumps - We cannot do this, as we do not own the streets in Driftwood Point. (# 9) Add additional streetlights - We have added one new streetlight at the end of 25th. St. Ct. E. for an additional annual cost of approximately $120.00. We have augmented the lighting outside and within the waterfront park and increased the wattage at the entrance to Driftwood Point for an additional annual cost of approximately $416.00. Disposition of the three (3) other suggestions Sewers and sidewalks cannot be addressed by our 5 Year Plan. These are issues that require the sponsorship and cooperation of the cities of Bonney Lake and/or Auburn, and/or Sumner. Additional speed buoys in the lake will be addressed as a normal course of DPA business. Cleanup of the entrance has been covered by (# 1) above and is performed by the park attendants.
